Sanford Highway Risk and Traffic Citation Info

Sanford, Florida is found in Seminole County and has a population of about 57,500 residents. It's a very popular place for visitors to arrive into the Orlando area with the Orlando Sanford International Airport found within the city. It's also home to the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens, along with Seminole State College of Florida.

As a part of the Orlando Metro area, Sanford hosts millions of visitors every year. Many rent vehicles and add their unique style of driving to the roads, along with their unfamiliarity with the area roadways. This causes congestion on the main highways and plenty of dangers.

Receiving a traffic ticket in the Sanford area isn't fun. Before you get too upset, consider these stats:

  • Interstate 4 runs through the Sanford area and many visitors use this highway to get to Orlando's many attractions.
  • The Florida section of I-4 is rated as the 3rd most deadly in the United States.
  • About 250,000 traffic accidents happen throughout Florida every year.
  • Sanford provides one of the main airports for the Orlando area and many visitors come into the city.
  • With an influx of visitors, the roadways become even more dangerous.

If traffic laws were not enforced in Sanford, the crash stats would be far worse.

Losing Your License in Sanford, Florida

Do you know what it takes to end up with a suspended license? If you become a habitual traffic law breaker, you will probably end up with a license suspension. Get caught driving on a suspended license and you may end up in jail for 90 days, along with racking up another $500 in fines.

Florida operates on a points system for traffic tickets. Points for each ticket range from 3 to 6 with the worst offenses costing you the most points. After you pay a traffic ticket, points are added to your license.

If you get 12 points over a 12 month period, you will have your license suspended for 30 days. Get 18 points in 18 months and that suspension goes up to 90 days. Make it worse and get 24 points in 36 months and you will end up with a one-year suspension.

Avoid Points with Traffic School in Sanford, Florida

The best way to keep your license from getting suspended is to obey the traffic laws. However, when you do get a ticket, you can use online traffic school to keep the points off your license. It won't help with the fine, but it will keep your insurance rates from going up and keep your license clean.

Start by pleading guilty or no contest to the ticket and pay the fine. Make sure to inform the clerk of the court you will be enrolling in the basic driver improvement course. Then, enroll online and complete the traffic school class. You will be issued a certificate of completion, which you need to turn into the clerk of the court.

Follow these simple steps and you will keep points from your ticket off your license.

Eligibility Requirements for Traffic School

As a driver in the State of Florida, you get five opportunities to use the basic driver improvement course to eliminate points. This course can only be used once every 12 months, however. If you haven't taken the course five or more times or in the past 12 months, you're eligible.
