Each month the National Safety Commission publishes a bulletin for teens and parents designed to improve teen driver behavior, attitude, skills, and experience. Unfortunately, as teens gain experience, there is a tendency to become overconfident with their driving skills. This false sense of security, coupled with the wrong attitude, such as the "whatever" syndrome or the "it won't happen to me" phase often lead to deadly results. In fact, based on annual travel, the fatality rate for a teenage driver is about four times higher than the rate for drivers 25-69 years old.
